The Gospel

What is the gospel?

The Bible says:

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:” (1 Corinthians 15:1-4, King James Version).

God created this world (Genesis 1:1; John 1:3); by one man sin entered into the world and brought eternal death to all men (Romans 5:12); God offers forgiveness and eternal life to anyone who will accept Jesus as their Savior (Romans 5:8, 6:23, 10:13; John 3:16-17); “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved” (Romans 10:13). If you reject Jesus Christ as your Savior, you will go to hell forever, a place of everlasting contempt and punishment where there is weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth, a furnace of fire that burns forever (Daniel 12:2; Psalms 145:20; Matthew 13:50, 25:46; Mark 9:43-48; Revelation 21:8). God gives everyone the choice to accept or reject His offer of eternal life.

You don’t have to work your way to heaven (eternal life with God). You cannot work your way to heaven because salvation is the gift of God; it is by grace through faith (Ephesians 2:8-9). Do you want to be saved from hell? What do you have to do? “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved” (Acts 16:31).

Do you want to go to heaven? - trust Jesus Christ.

Do you want to go to hell? - trust something else.

Pray and ask the Lord: “Lord Jesus, be merciful to me a sinner, and save me. I now, with a repentant heart, receive you as my personal Savior.”

All scripture quotations are taken from, and meant to be referenced in, the King’s Authorized Version of the Bible (known more commonly today as the King James Version).
